A weekend to discover Ferrolterra

?? In past few days I had the opportunity to discover the surroundings of Ferrol.

On Friday we went to the mid-term evaluation in Santiago with the rest of the volunteers from block 3, it was a really good to see all the group back together and to talk about how it’s going the project for each one of us. We did some activities to see if the project was going in the right direction and if we had any advice to improve the next month here, both for the organization and the single groups. 

We also met the volunteers from block 4, and it was a really good chance for us to relive the excitement of the beginning and for them to listen to some important advice by someone who has already entered the activities.

On Saturday I went with my friends to A Coruna, the first stop was in a typical seafood restaurant where we tried some traditional galician dishes. Then we took the bus to go to the Hercules tower, and I have to say it was one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen since I’m here, on the top of the hill was really windy but when we went down to the rose of the winds lower, there was a perfect climate and a breathtaking view.

As we had the bus after a couple of hours we decided to walk to the bus station, taking the opportunity to visit the city, we went to the main square and we had a break for a coffee in a cafeteria before coming back home.

Sunday the weather wasn’t on our side, but it was the typical galician climate with the drizzle and the wind so we took the ferry to go to Mugardos for lunch. 

Since we’ve been here, everybody’s talking about octopus made in the Mugardesa way, so we went there specifically to try this dish. I was not disappointed, everything was really good even if I had to choose I wouldn’t choose seafood.

?? En días pasados ​​tuve la oportunidad de conocer los alrededores de Ferrol.

El viernes fuimos a la evaluación intermedia en Santiago con el resto de los voluntarios del bloque 3, fue muy bueno ver a todo el grupo de nuevo juntos y hablar de cómo va el proyecto para cada uno de nosotros. Hicimos algunas actividades para ver si el proyecto iba en la dirección correcta y si teníamos algún consejo para mejorar el próximo mes aquí, tanto para la organización como para los grupos individuales.

También conocimos a los voluntarios del bloque 4, y fue una muy buena oportunidad para revivir la emoción del comienzo y escuchar algunos consejos importantes de alguien que ya se incorporó a las actividades.

El sábado fui con mis amigos a A Coruña, la primera parada fue en una típica marisquería donde probamos algunos platos tradicionales gallegos. Luego tomamos el autobús para ir a la torre de Hércules, y tengo que decir que fue uno de los lugares más hermosos que he visto desde que estoy aquí, en la cima de la colina hacía mucho viento, pero cuando bajamos a la rosa de los vientos bajaba, había un clima perfecto y una vista impresionante.

Como teníamos el autobús después de un par de horas decidimos caminar hasta la estación de autobuses, aprovechando para visitar la ciudad, fuimos a la plaza principal y tomamos un descanso para tomar un café en una cafetería antes de regresar a casa.

El domingo el tiempo no nos acompañó, pero era el típico clima gallego con la llovizna y el viento así que cogimos el ferry para ir a comer a Mugardos.

Desde que estamos aquí todo el mundo habla de pulpo hecho a la Mugardesa, así que fuimos allí expresamente para probar este plato. No me decepcionó, todo estaba muy bueno, incluso si tuviera que elegir, no elegiría mariscos.
