Digital Camino/ Camino Digital

This week we have been doing mostly digital camino. On the 15th of August we had a free day, since it was a holiday in Spain. At the beginning of the week we also had a Spanish lesson. I was so lost because I don’t understand nor speak Spanish at all.

In the beginning of the week, we worked in the office in Ferrol. On Tuesday and Wednesday we published posts on social media and also some articles in here.  We also made a poster about European Solidarity Corps. We rearranged it over and over again almost 20 times (but I did not count the exact number of times we altered it). The one that we finished at first and the one that was the final product looked really different at the end. We added logos, deleted some excessive objects and decorations and corrected typos many many times. When we finished, we were so happy that it was finally done.

As they say: „Team work makes the dream work”.

On Thursday we went to our office in Neda, finished the social media posts and started to work on geocaching. I was looking into geocaching on Wednesday, but I was so confused since there were so many rules (and honestly, I hate reading the long instructions). At first, we checked out the website and after that we went outside to find a good hiding place for the cache. To my surprise, finding a good spot was not that easy, because you have to consider so many things (example wind, accessibility, street cleaners etc.). You also have to hide it somewhere where only the people playing geocache will find it (not some random passer–by). At last, we managed to find a quite good hiding spot. Then we went back in the office and our mentor bought smaller boxes to make the cache fit better in the hiding place. Since the boxes/jars were made from glass, we covered them with tape to make them harder to break and also to make them harder to spot right away. When the prize was in the jar and the jar was taped, we finally hid it and finished setting the cache up in the app/website. We also wrote some informational and historical text about the place near the cache (you can see that on the geochaching app/website- there is a pin on Neda). There’s also a small hint.

Esta semana hemos estado haciendo principalmente camino digital. El 15 de agosto tuvimos día libre, ya que era fiesta en España. Al comienzo de la semana también tuvimos una lección de español. Estaba tan perdido porque no entiendo ni hablo español en absoluto.

A principios de semana trabajamos en la oficina de Ferrol. El martes y miércoles publicamos publicaciones en las redes sociales y también algunos artículos aquí. También hicimos un cartel sobre el Cuerpo Europeo de Solidaridad. Lo reorganizamos una y otra vez casi 20 veces (pero no conté el número exacto de veces que lo modificamos). El que terminamos al principio y el que era el producto final se veían muy diferentes al final. Agregamos logotipos, eliminamos algunos objetos y decoraciones excesivos y corregimos errores tipográficos muchas veces. Cuando terminamos, estábamos tan felices de que finalmente se hizo.

Como dicen: “El trabajo en equipo hace que los sueños funcionen”.

El jueves fuimos a nuestra oficina en Neda, terminamos las publicaciones en las redes sociales y comenzamos a trabajar en GeoCaching. Estuve investigando geocaching el miércoles, pero estaba muy confundido porque había tantas reglas (y, sinceramente, odio leer las instrucciones largas). Al principio, revisamos el sitio web y luego salimos a buscar un buen escondite para el caché. Para mi sorpresa, encontrar un buen lugar no fue tan fácil, porque hay que tener en cuenta muchas cosas (por ejemplo, viento, accesibilidad, limpieza de calles, etc.). También tienes que esconderlo en algún lugar donde solo lo encuentren las personas que juegan GeoCache (no algún transeúnte al azar). Por fin, logramos encontrar un buen escondite. Luego volvimos a la oficina y nuestro mentor compró cajas más pequeñas para que el caché encajara mejor en el escondite. Dado que las cajas/frascos estaban hechos de vidrio, los cubrimos con cinta adhesiva para que fueran más difíciles de romper y también para que fueran más difíciles de detectar de inmediato. Cuando el premio estaba en el frasco y el frasco estaba grabado, finalmente lo escondimos y terminamos de configurar el caché en la aplicación/sitio web. También escribimos un texto informativo e histórico sobre el lugar cerca del caché (puedes verlo en la aplicación/sitio web de geochaching, hay un pin en Neda). También hay una pequeña pista.
