?? The arrival in the city of Santiago de Compostela marks the end of the religious “Way”. Many pilgrims, however, prefer, before leaving and leaving Spain, to extend their stay in the verdant and mysterious Galicia for a few days to travel and reach “Cape Finisterre” (called in Galician “Cabo Fisterra”). The path to Cape Finisterre (“Finis Terrae” or “end of the earth”) is a different path, certainly pagan, but which allows us to continue to admire the landscapes, beaches and beautiful places of the Galician coast. Tradition, handed down over the centuries by ancient medieval pilgrims, has it that after reaching the city of Santiago de Compostela, having prayed at the tomb of the holy apostle of Jesus, it is necessary to purify oneself with a bath in the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean in Finisterre. Another phase of the ancient rite of purification, now prohibited, consisted of burning the clothes (or parts of them) worn on the Camino de Santiago, witnessing the sunset at the furthest point of the European coast, Fisterra.

?? La llegada a la ciudad de Santiago de Compostela marca el final del “Camino” religioso. Muchos peregrinos, sin embargo, prefieren, antes de partir y salir de España, alargar unos días su estancia en la verde y misteriosa Galicia para recorrer y llegar hasta el “Cabo Finisterre” (llamado en gallego “Cabo Fisterra”). El camino al Cabo Finisterre (“Finis Terrae” o “fin de la tierra”) es un camino diferente, ciertamente pagano, pero que nos permite seguir admirando los paisajes, playas y bellos parajes de la costa gallega. La tradición, transmitida a lo largo de los siglos por antiguos peregrinos medievales, cuenta que después de llegar a la ciudad de Santiago de Compostela, habiendo rezado ante la tumba del santo apóstol de Jesús, es necesario purificarse con un baño en las gélidas aguas del Océano Atlántico en Finisterre. Otra fase del antiguo rito de purificación, ahora prohibido, consistía en quemar la ropa (o partes de ella) que se usaba en el Camino de Santiago, presenciando la puesta de sol en el punto más alejado de la costa europea, Fisterra.
