English Speaking Corner

?? Thanks to our supervisor’s suggestion, we started to organize language exchange events in order to get more in touch with the local community of the small village where our group of volunteers of the Winter Camino is living, a Rúa.

For this meeting, that takes place every thursday, we planned very dynamic and interactive activities as we didn’t want to offer a simple English clases. We supposed that people don’t want to receive lessons at 8 p.m. every thursday. So what we proposed to the participants were a lot of energizers to introduce ourselves and games to encourage conversation in English and, at the same time, to help people get to know each other, such as “Human Bingo” and “Guess who you are”.

At the beginning there weren’t so many people, but thanks to some of the first participants that spread the world all over the village, the community started to participate in our event more and more and with so much enthousiasm!!

This activity helped the local community improve their English but also helped our integration in this very new place!

Now everyone knows the ESC volunteers of a Rúa and we know most of the village’s ihabitants.. we almost feel part of this community! 🙂

?? Gracias a la sugerencia de nuestro supervisor, comenzamos a organizar eventos de intercambio de idiomas para estar más en contacto con la comunidad local del pequeño pueblo donde vive nuestro grupo de voluntarios del Camino de Invierno, a Rúa.

Para esta reunión, que se lleva a cabo todos los jueves, planeamos actividades muy dinámicas e interactivas ya que no queríamos ofrecer unas simples clases de inglés. Suponemos que la gente no quiere recibir lecciones a las 8 p.m. cada jueves. Entonces, lo que propusimos a los participantes fueron muchos dinamizadores para presentarnos y juegos para fomentar la conversación en inglés y, al mismo tiempo, ayudar a las personas a conocerse, como “Human Bingo” y “Guess who you are”.

Al principio no había tanta gente, pero gracias a algunos de los primeros participantes que repartieron el mundo por todo el pueblo, la comunidad empezó a participar en nuestro evento cada vez más y con mucho entusiasmo!!

¡Esta actividad ayudó a la comunidad local a mejorar su inglés, pero también ayudó a nuestra integración en este nuevo lugar!

Ahora todo el mundo conoce a los voluntarios CES de una Rúa y conocemos a la mayoría de los habitantes del pueblo… ¡casi nos sentimos parte de esta comunidad! ?
