Our final exhibition

?? Yesterday was the day of our final exhibition, something we’ve been working on for two months. and finally we saw all our ideas going from just a scratch to a concrete thing.

Each of us could develop its own project based on our passions and capacities that we have put all together in a beautiful exhibition in the Canido center of Ferrol.

Since I arrived here, I’ve learnt that Galicia is famous for its dark legends and myths, so I decided to take inspiration from this and unite it with my passion for fantasy and history and create something.

The first step was to find the all the material I wanted to talk about, it wasn’t as easy as I thought I would be cause most of these legends are transmitted orally so there isn’t so you can find on internet. The other problem I had is that most of the websites where I could find this type of material were in spanish so sometimes I needed the help of the translator.

One I had all the material done, I was looking for a way to show it that was not the traditional poster: so I did my one legends and myths ancient book. I bought some ivory paper that I colored with coffee to make it look old and used and to emphasize this effect I burnt the edges. 

Once I had the paper done I modified the draft checking for errors and translating from spanish to english. Then I moved to canva where I chose a “medieval” font that suit this theme perfectly and I adjusted the layout to make it look as a book page.

The last part was to print everything in the paper and print the symbols separately to color them with paint so they could look more real.

The exhibition night was really good, people from Xunta came to see it and it was a very nice moment to spend all together. At the end there was also an international buffet where each of us cooked something traditional and to conclude the night we performed the ritual on the queimada gallega. It was amazing !

?? Ayer fue el día de nuestra exposición final, algo en lo que hemos estado trabajando durante dos meses. y finalmente vimos todas nuestras ideas pasar de ser un rasguño a algo concreto.

Cada uno de nosotros podría desarrollar su propio proyecto en base a nuestras pasiones y capacidades que hemos reunido todos en una bonita exposición en el centro Canido de Ferrol.

Desde que llegué aquí, aprendí que Galicia es famosa por sus leyendas y mitos oscuros, así que decidí inspirarme en esto y unirlo con mi pasión por la fantasía y la historia y crear algo.

El primer paso fue encontrar todo el material del que quería hablar, no fue tan fácil como pensé que sería porque la mayoría de estas leyendas se transmiten de forma oral, por lo que no se pueden encontrar en Internet. El otro problema que tuve es que la mayoría de los sitios web donde podía encontrar este tipo de material estaban en español por lo que a veces necesitaba la ayuda del traductor.

Una vez que tenía todo el material hecho, buscaba una manera de mostrarlo que no fuera el cartel tradicional: así que hice mi único libro de leyendas y mitos antiguos. Compré un papel marfil que coloreé con café para que pareciera viejo y usado y para enfatizar este efecto quemé los bordes.

Una vez que tuve el trabajo hecho modifiqué el borrador comprobando errores y traduciendo del español al inglés. Luego me mudé a canva, donde elegí una fuente “medieval” que se adaptaba perfectamente a este tema y ajusté el diseño para que pareciera la página de un libro.

La última parte fue imprimir todo en el papel e imprimir los símbolos por separado para colorearlos con pintura y que se vieran más reales.

La noche de la exposición estuvo muy bien, vino gente de la Xunta a verla y fue un momento muy bonito para pasar todos juntos. Al finalizar también hubo un buffet internacional donde cada uno cocinó algo tradicional y para concluir la noche realizamos el ritual de la queimada gallega. Fue increíble!
